On the Lust List.

These Givenchy “Matilda” sandals are absolutely killer! They’re not your typical strappy heels, what with the textured leather and the gold metal heel. They come in black or white. Wear these babies with a pencil skirt and blouse for uber chicness. Amanda Seyfried, who is now the face of Givenchy’s Very Irrésistible fragrance , was spotted wearing them at the premiere of ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’

On the Lust List: Givenchy Matilda Sandals: £1,118

Cool Kids Only.

How cute are these Filles à Papa’s one piece bathing suits? The playful swimwear is inspired by New York street style, so it combines jersey lettering with cool cuts. Pair these swimsuits with denim shorts and some rounded shades!

Each bathing suit comes with its own neprene pouch. Sweet.

Green with envy? NOT.

Nars have released a “modern and unique” duo eyeshadow, under the name of “Tropical princess” featuring a “neon lemon lime” and an “icy lavender”. I quite like the icy lavender! I read once that it was the most flattering shade of eye shadow for all eye shapes and colours- like a universal “go-to” colour. I think pastels generally make the eyes pop. But the lime green?! I don’t care what anyone says but I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing green eye shadow- let alone lime green! Not unless I wanted to look like Effie bloody Trinket.

But don’t worry Nars, I think people might still cough up $35 for this bi-polar shade, because check this out (click here) – it’s a tutorial on how to cover a red pimple with green eye shadow. You’re welcome!

The Dream Weaver Collection!

I’m obsessed with Whitney Eve’s Dream Weaver collection! The print is bright and bold, like the great summer that will be two thousand and fourteen’s. My favourite piece? The cropped boyfriend shirt!

The collection is available at The Rail, Amman (06-5856082)

Poolside with Stella.

Nothing says easy breezy like a pair of espadrilles. I love this Silver mesh Stella Mccartney pair because they can air out and the metallic tone matches practically any beach kaftan or bikini. I hope you’re all having a wonderful Friday afternoon! X

Topshop Skater Girl

Check out this two-toned metallic skater dress from Topshop! I think it would really cute with this pair of strappy cobalt blue sandals by Alexander Wang. High street statement buys are the best kind of buys!

Been MIA.

I’m so sorry I’ve been completely MIA for the past month, but I’ve been working on a secret project I can’t wait to tell you all about. In the meantime, I’m in Paris for fashion week and today’s skies are blue blue blue. I’m joining the brunch bunch at Derrière for a bite to eat this gorgeous Sunday morning. Looking forward to an incredibly busy and productive week!

Love from Paris,

Pretty Leather Things by Givenchy

408011_in_xl 405541_in_xl
I love these spring pieces from the Givenchy collection! The cotton candy shorts are so feminine but incredibly edgy too. The strappy sandals are so versatile and perfect for all your summer outfits. My only problem with strappy sandals is that I’m not tall and the ankle strap tends to shorten my legs. I might make an exception for these babies though. They’re gorge!

The Chamber Gyld Design House opens in Amman

_MG_6810A Gyld Member & Founder of Chamber Gyld, Zeena AlAhmad was born on July 17, 1987 in Amman- Jordan. Her artisan talent was pursued through her studies in Studio Arts & Interior Design in Canada & the United Kingdom.

With a paintbrush in hand and from within the confines of a four walled studio emerged a line of exquisitely designed and passionately produced items that act as a ‘Gyld’ to every home. After launching her first furniture collection in 2012, Zeena has adhered her admiration & passion for art & design and ventured into creating a new concept of exhibition space; Chamber Gyld. The bespoke design house encompasses a number of different talents from the region and all around the world. I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down and talk to Zeena about this new venture and what she has in store for 2014.

You are known as the founder of Chamber Gyld, your furniture design line. I’m a huge fan. What inspired you to open the Chamber Gyld Design House and incorporate fashion and jewelry by other local and regional designers?

“Amman’s first bespoke design house, Chamber Gyld’s concept is to create a hub for talented designers to display & promote their distinguished statement pieces.  The aim is to highlight the power of collaboration & showcase the original talents, who produce exquisite work with excellent quality & finish. We bring Fresh, Avante-Garde & Aesthetic designs to your home & wardrobe from the world’s trendiest spots. Chamber Gyld Design House offers an eclectic mix of hand-made items, at which many are exclusively made for our Chamber! We aim to use our spacious high-ceiled window display, as an opportunity to bring out the unconventional vision in every designer.  Keeping true to the Design House that Chamber Gyld is, the window display will be an ever-changing attraction for people to look forward to each season. Chamber Gyld is not just a concept boutique; it is more of a dynamic space that seeks social interaction via events, competitions, pop-up shop concepts & social media collaborations.”

What are the local and regional brands we can find at the design house?

“Anknownymous, Basma Furniture, Zeena Chamber Gyld, Dina Gildeh AlMasara, Aennis Eunis, Raya Bisharat, Jad Ghandour, Nour Taher, Mohammad Tamimi, Chic Gyld, Vanina, Laith Qattan , Ola Medanat, Badr Adduja, Haya Awad, and more designers and artists are joining Chamber Gyld’s Design House.”

You have also designed your own line of handbags, or “Chic Gylds” to be precise, what inspired you to branch out into fashion and accessories?

“My passion towards art & design allows me to branch out of just my specialty in painting & furniture. I wouldn’t call myself a Handbag designer, because my Chic Gylds are funky, artistic & unique. The patterns & beading are especially handmade for this collection making each piece a statement accessory.”

Where do you draw your influences from when it comes to the design process?

“From my everyday surroundings, travels & patterns present everywhere; from nature to fashion.”

What’s in the pipeline for the Chamber Gyld brand in 2014?

“We’re looking forward to adding many more designers & artists to the Chamber Gyld team. We have a full schedule of trunk Shows, pop-up shop concepts & many more events. We’ll be having exciting window display competitions and hopefully in the near future an expansion to Chamber Gyld – Tea Room.”

How would you describe your own personal style?

“I consider my style to be classic/contemporary.”

How do you spend your free time when you’re not sketching or designing?

“Brainstorming Brainstorming & more brainstorming! Seriously- Design has become part of me!”

What is your favourite city and why?

“London & Beirut are by far my two favourite cities for their history, culture & art.”

Brocade Espadrilles!

399341_in_xl 399347_in_xl
I love these Brocade Espadrilles by Dolce & Gabbana. They’re a refreshing change from the Chanel espadrilles that saturated my instagram home feed last summer. Pair these floral beauties with denim shorts or a little white dress for a walk on the beach!

Striped & Spotted’s Style Resolutions for 2014

Last year, I put together a list of closet resolutions to help organize and revamp your wardrobes. But this year, my list of resolutions will address personal style and ways to refine it. 2014 might be your most stylish year yet!

1. Wear what you want

I can’t say this enough. Be confident when it comes to your fashion choices and ignore the backlash. You can seek others peoples’ opinions but try not to base your decision entirely on what they think (except for mum, always listen to mum). It’s not what you wear, it’s whether you wear it with confidence or not. Personal style is a matter of self expression; don’t doubt it.

2. Brave the prints

If your closet is monochrome, add a pop of colour. If you always avoided prints, brave an aztec blouse or dress. A breathe of fresh air never hurt anyone. And besides, it’s the new year and that means you get the chance to try new things. It’s the same with fabrics and materials. Dyed leather will add some rock n’ roll chic to your wardrobe. Dramatic tulle will give you a playful edge with a touch of femininity. Don’t go overboard though- leave the glittered ballerinas for your 6 year old niece.

3. New day, new lipstick

You’d be surprised at how many people look amazing with red lipstick, but are too afraid to leave the house with it on! Try a bold lip colour and consult with a beauty technician to pick the perfect shade. I never go anywhere without my favourite lipstick. Somehow, it gives me a boost and brightens up my day. I use Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet.

4. Resole your soul
Take your shoes to a cobbler and have them resoled. They’ll feel brand new again. There is nothing worse than a pair of scuffed Louboutins! You can visit www.saveyoursole.co.uk (as seen in Elle, Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan) and buy their gift pack that has everything you need to care and love for your Christian Louboutin shoes. Protect your new shoes or repair your scuffed soles with touch up sole paint – in perfect “Louboutin” red.

5. Vintage dreams.

Keep an eye out for beautiful vintage pieces and try to incorporate them into your look. Vintage pieces add a story to your look and what’s fashion if it doesn’t tell a story? Your grandmother’s pearl earrings will look so chic with a buttoned-up blouse and skirt. And that necklace you bought at Portobello market is always a good conversation starter!

Repossi: Back in Stock

The Repossi ring that took over my Instagram feed not long ago is back in stock. This 18-karat gold ring from the label’s signature ‘Berbère’ collection is designed to sit on the finger and past the knuckle. You can find it on net-a-porter by clicking here for a whopping £5,256.25. CRAY!

The Right Kind of Deodorant

Antiperspirant substances in deodorants are absorbed by and deposited in the lymph nodes under the arm. Since you’re not perspiring, this causes a high concentration of toxins in the lymph nodes, which leads to cells mutating into cancer. This is why I’ve always use L’occitane’s cooling deodorant! It’s aluminum salts free, alcohol free, and paraben free. Better safe than sorry!
